Fashion Institute owns and operates a number of fashion event platforms, from full fashion weeks through to events and exhibitions. In addition to these platforms, we also operate a number of development schemes and projects to fulfil our mandate of growing the fashion industry on the African continent.
For more information on our platforms, please click the Platforms tab in the menu above to learn more about each event.
Our platforms differ from existing fashion week and development platforms in South Africa in the approach and execution models that we follow. Our designer and promotion of designer business is our central approach, and drives all event, show, supplier and development programmes and selection from conceptualising events to final execution, as well as running the programmes between events.
Fashion is a business, and our competitors often mistake the task of hosting a promotional and development platform such as a fashion week as entertainment or to drive alternate agendas such a sponsorship or profit. Fashion Institute is the only non-profit fashion week owner on the continent, and our values lie in delivering tangible results to all those who are involved with our properties and platforms.
Systems and Suppliers:
Fashion Institute works with a network of suppliers to ensure that each area of our events have the best people working on them. From fashion show producers through to technical suppliers and hospitality providers. We engage in international best practice extensively, and routinely introduce new and exciting innovations and methodologies to our productions and platforms in South Africa.
Our partnership, combining oversight and suppliers, see’s Fashion Institute work across number of countries on the African continent, partnering with fashion weeks and development agencies in order to raise the standard of shows across Africa. This initiative also aims to identify new talent early on, to ensure that the necessary structures are in place to nuture and mentor the designers, and eventually assist in growing their business or placing them with existing retailers or designers in order to gain experience or employment.
